firefox

Firefox is one of best internet browsers available today. Forget Netscape. I only use Internet Explorer now when I am on a site [such as e-zekiel] that does not have Firefox support yet. It is, in my experience, faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer, and much more functional. For example, you can have multiple "tabs" open in Firefox instead of opening multiple Firefox windows, saving valuable Taskbar space. You can even have your homepage set to multiple tabs, so instead of having a single homepage, you can have four or even ten!

Mozilla Firefox
Mozilla Firefox is a fantastic new web browser that was developed to comete directly with Internet Explorer.

I recommend to anyone who is surfing the web to use this for day-to-day use.  Please note, however, that at this time some websites still do not have firefox support.

Firefox Add-Ins
One of the greatest things about Firefox is the ability to customize it and use it for things that are not possible with Internet Explorer.

Plug-ins allow you to view content [Flash, Java, etc.].

Themes allow you to customize the look of Firefox to your individual style.

Extensions allow you to add additional functions to your Firefox program. This is perhaps the best part of the program.

my favorite extensions

Since the release of Firefox, several staff have asked me about things you can do with it. Here are a few extensions I use daily.

  • Forecast Fox
This extension allows you to add several days of international weather forecasts to the bottom-right of the status bar in Firefox. You can even set it to rotate between ZIP codes automatically.
  • Bandwidth Tester
This installs a menu item in the Tools toolbar that allows you test your bandwidth at any time.
  • Print Preview
    Adds a Print Preview Option
  • MapIt!
Allows you to highlight an address and right-click it to get an online map of that address!
open a new tab

To open a new tab in Firefox:

  • Control+T
Opens a new tab to type in an address.
  • Control-Click a Link
Opens the link in a new tab.
  • Shift-Control-Click a Link
Opens the link in a new tab and views that tab.
